People have been telling us that we should start a blog for years as they have asked us to share our tips on cloth diapering, homeschooling, travel and more. We finally decided to test the waters with this site! Our goal at KinspiredLife is to provide a safe space where we can share inspirations with friends and family. Here you’ll learn about our favorite resources for topics ranging from self and home care, to clothing, homeschooling and all sorts of things for wee kin, and interior design - all with the common threads of choosing materials and sources that are better for people and the planet.
As a visitor here, you are part of a fantastic community of our big, extended family - our kin. Every day we reflect on how fortunate we are to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family. Among you are accomplished artists, musicians, dancers, actors, teachers, writers, journalists, chefs, commedians, den moms, yogis, army and navy servicemen, hunters, commercial and recreational fishermen, ranchers, florists, conservationists, youth advocates, policy makers, ecotour providers, pilots, flight attendants, captains, craftsman, entrepreneurs, programmers, engineers of all kinds, scientists, architects, knitters, spinners, weavers, seamstresses, professional and college atheletes, sailors, divers, surfers, kayakers, skiiers, snow boarders, kite boarders, hikers, rock climbers, golfers (both kinds), rugby players, attorneys, doctors, nurses, set medics, healers, bakers, and yes, even candle stick makers! You, collectively with the generations of kin who preceded us and the generations of kin yet to come, are our "kinspiration." Thank you so much for being part of our community.
For our part we are a homeschooling family who loves to travel, with degrees and experience in civil engineering, environmental biology, cultural anthropology, and marine resource management. In our working lives we have helped build vibrant, new urbanist neighborhoods, and helped with long term planning for national marine sanctuaries at the Channel Islands along California's central coast, and in American Samoa. We're still involved in neighborhood development, and now we also work to reciprocate the global hospitality we have enjoyed over the years by designing and building vacation rentals that we own and manage. We love being in nature from the mountains to the sea and sharing that passion with our kids. Our current adventure is going off the grid while living and cruising here and there on a sailboat in Mexico.
